Texas State softball will travel to Troy for a three-game series beginning April 10, with all games available on ESPN+, according to an announcement made April 9.

The matchup is significant as Texas State seeks to continue its strong performance following last season’s Sun Belt Conference Regular Season Championship. The Bobcats return most of their pitching and batting roster from the previous year, aiming to build on their recent success.

Head coach Ricci Woodard, now in her 26th season, leads the team with a record of 903 career wins. Under her guidance, Texas State has achieved 14 conference championships and made 11 NCAA Regional appearances. This season, the Bobcats hold a record of 25-16 after defeating UTSA in their latest game.

Key players for Texas State include Williams, who currently leads the batting order with a .410 average. Three other players are also hitting above .300 this season. In pitching, Maddy Azua stands out with a top-five national ranking in strikeouts and holds a 1.91 ERA over 157.1 innings pitched.

Troy enters the week with a similar overall record at 25-14 but sits at 5-7 in Sun Belt Conference play. Their offense is led by Makaley Boswell (.410 average) and McKinnon Howard (.405), while Abby Lovell heads their bullpen with a 2.51 ERA over more than eighty innings pitched.

Historically, Texas State leads the all-time series against Troy at 24-13-1 but lost their most recent meeting on April 19 last year by one run.
