Hays County schools enroll 3,266 gifted and talented students in the 2021-2022 school year

Test 15

Hays County schools enrolled 3,266 students who were identified as being gifted and talented during the 2021-2022 school year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

This is a 5% increase over the previous school year.

Of the 41,740 students enrolled in Hays County schools, 7.8% of them were considered to be gifted and talented.

Hays County enrolled the 22nd highest number of gifted and talented students among Texas counties.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

“The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students…dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools…gun violence, and mental health issues,” claimed the Texas Almanac.
