Allen City Council launches 2023 bond process by appointing steering committee
In preparation for a public bond election expected to be held in November 2023, Allen City Council appointed six members to a bond steering committee during the March 14 council meeting. This process, which typically takes place every 5-7 years, allows Allen voters to consider funding large community projects such as streets, trails, parks, public facilities and more through General Obligation (GO) Bonds.
Steering committee members will help gather resident input and prioritize needs for the City of Allen in specific areas of interest, including:
- Finance
- Public Safety
- Parks and Downtown
- Public Art
- Streets, Infrastructure and Neighborhoods

Public art installations coming to Stephen G. Terrell Community Park
An artist has been chosen to create and install public art at the upcoming Stephen G. Terrell Recreation Center and Community Park.
Sculptural artist Joshua Wiener will create a series of playful and imaginative sculptures inspired by his visit to Allen during the artist selection process. These large pieces will be placed along the trails in the community park.
This project is funded by 2016 Public Art Bond funds.
New water disinfection system helps keep Allen water clean
Councilmembers approved the purchase of two new water disinfection systems to be installed at the Bethany and Rowlett water towers. These systems will ensure that disinfectant levels stay at the appropriate level from storage tank to kitchen sink.
These new systems also help the city save water by reducing the need to flush water out of fire hydrants during the hot summer months when disinfectant levels drop faster.
Annual independent audit returns clean audit for city finances
An independent audit of the city’s finances and account groups gave the City of Allen a clean audit, finding no issues or items of concern regarding accounting control structure.
This annual audit leads to the creation and presentation of the 2022 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, which covers the 2022 fiscal year ending in September 2022.

City data infrastructure upgrade
Three new server nodes will soon be supporting city department needs and bringing faster and more reliable connectivity to the city’s network.
