Making a difference in DEI
Alumna Dr. Suzanne Ondrus '06 is excited about her move into diversity, equity, and inclusion; gender equity; and nonviolent communication consulting.
Her clients so far have been the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and Colombia’s national coffee federation. During the pandemic, Ondrus took the opportunity to master advanced Spanish on her own and afterward conducted gender and DEI trainings in Spanish in Colombia as well as remotely for SERniña in Guatemala.
In her role as an executive board member, she was a featured speaker for Girl Now, Woman Later, an NGO that educates girls in Burkina Faso, West Africa, on menstruation health in order to keep them in school. Her second book of feminist poetry, “Death of an Unvirtuous Woman,” came out in October. The book strikes back at victim blaming regarding an 1881 Ohio case of domestic homicide involving an German immigrant couple.
