BGSU In The Round, marketing, students take home honors at American Advertising Awards
In a ceremony held in Toledo on March 9, the In The Round speaker series featuring Native creatives took home top honors from the Toledo American Advertising Awards, earning Best in Show, a Gold Addy Award for online/interactive campaign and bronze honors for the AAF Toledo Mosaic Award for Advocacy.
The judge's remarks for the Best in Show honors noted that In The Round's design, "uses a visual brand that is flexible enough to feature various speakers with warmth and richness, along with consideration for the voices of contemporary artists of indigenous people."
Individuals involved with the In The Round entries included project co-creator, creative director and designer Dr. Jenn Stucker, associate professor in the BGSU School of Art; project co-creator Heidi Nees-Carver, assistant professor in the Department of Theatre and Film; printmaking elements creator and BGSU alumna Jessie Walton; and event photographer Doug Hinebaugh. The In The Round speaker series returns to BGSU on March 24 with the author and illustrator of "Fry Bread: A Native American Family Story," Kevin Noble Maillard and Juana Martinez-Neal.
