Round Rock extinguishes equipment fire at City’s temporary brush drop-off location
Round Rock Fire Department responded to a fire Tuesday evening at the City of Round Rock’s temporary brush drop-off location at 3939 E. Palm Valley Blvd.
Initial crews arrived at 9:51 p.m. and reported that heavy machinery in the area was on fire. It was found later to be an excavator and mulcher being used for brush disposal efforts following the ice storm that took place in early February. The fire was contained by approximately 10:09 p.m. and completely extinguished at approximately 10:29 p.m.
Out of an abundance of caution, Round Rock Police Department advised residents in the area to stay in their homes — that advisory has been lifted. There is no immediate threat to the public at this time. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
