Since the opening of the original Kerbey Lane in 1980, the family-owned restaurant’s legacy of supporting the community has been central to its mission. Now, Kerbey Lane has announced Kerbey Kindness, a platform for regularly lending support to local organizations in need around four core pillars—nutrition, health and wellness; education; family and animal welfare.

Throughout Kerbey Lane's 43 years in business in Central Texas, they have contributed to several local nonprofits, including HAAM, Habitat for Humanity, Urban Roots, We Are Blood, YMCA of Austin, Breast Cancer Resource Center, and United Way for Greater Austin, among others. Mason Ayer, CEO and owner of Kerbey Lane, has also served his community by volunteering to serve on several local boards, including the Austin Chamber of Commerce, Austin Habitat for Humanity, and United Way for Greater Austin. The hope is that Kerbey Kindness introduces us to even more like-minded organizations to ultimately make the most impact by working together.

This quarter, Kerbey Lane is donating a portion of proceeds from its monthly pancake specials, including January’s Peanut Butter, Banana & Nutella pancake, to Good Work Austin. Good Work Austin is a community of local businesses invested in creating good jobs, ensuring a quality workplace, and supporting and amplifying the voices of like-minded businesses. The organization's primary goals are to provide support, education, and resources to businesses and their team members, including many in the hospitality industry, in order to nurture diverse, welcoming workplaces. Through a Community Kitchen, they also support restaurants by paying them to provide nutritious meals for food-insecure communities.

Local nonprofits working within the Kerbey Kindness pillars—nutrition, health and wellness; education; family and animal welfare—will be invited to apply for consideration for future partnership opportunities during a yearly application period.

About Kerbey Lane

Kerbey Lane was established in 1980, serving made from scratch comfort food out of a small, 1930s bungalow on Kerbey Lane in Austin, Texas. Over four decades in business, they have grown to serve the Austin area with eight locations and a recent expansion to San Marcos and San Antonio. The restaurant remains 100% family-owned to this day and continues to stay true to its original values of serving delicious meals that are thoughtfully sourced, scratch made, and affordable while welcoming all who come through the doors.
