BAE Systems opened its new $150 million engineering and production facility in Austin, Texas. The new site is part of BAE Systems’ Electronic Systems sector, a global leader in researching, developing, implementing, and maintaining cutting-edge commercial, defense, and space electronics.

BAE Systems recently celebrated the opening of its new facility with a ribbon cutting ceremony. With attendees and speakers from the customer and technology community, the ceremony not only recognized the completion of the 390,000-square-foot facility but also BAE Systems' 65+ years of investment and commitment to Austin. “This new facility means a great deal to BAE Systems and our connection to the city of Austin," shared Countermeasure & Electromagnetic Attack Solutions Deputy Vice President and General Manager Rachel Guill. “Fueled by internal collaboration and strong relationships, our team members are passionate about making an impact and seeing their innovations come to life. Austin is built around community and our employees are committed to innovating for our veterans, inspiring our students, and investing in our communities."

Through corporate giving, employee giving, and employee volunteerism, BAE Systems supports national and local nonprofit organizations that are focused on inspiring the next generation of manufacturing and technology innovators through STEM and educational opportunities; providing career development programs and assistive technology solutions for veterans; and providing essential human services to those in need in our communities.

The 390,000-square-foot facility is located in Parmer Austin Business Park. Half of the facility is dedicated to manufacturing. The new campus also includes engineering design, laboratory, and office space. At the new site, the company has expanded its state-of-the-art manufacturing capability with a streamlined design that is easily reconfigurable to match evolving technologies. Expansion space exists within the manufacturing facility ready to take on future growth. Nearly 700 people are based at the campus, with a goal to eventually double the workforce. Austin employees innovate for a wide range of programs in the areas of autonomy, cyber, and sensor development; including the design, development, and manufacturing of radio frequency and electro-optical/infrared countermeasure systems as well as aircraft electrification technology.

“Austin is home to critical work that includes full-spectrum electronic warfare solutions to provide unrivaled survivability to our men and women in uniform and our U.S. allies around the world," shared Austin Site Director Scott Hatch. “And we are proud to deepen our legacy of producing advanced and dependable electronic systems here in this community for both our defense and commercial customers."

The new state-of-the art facility is a symbol not only of the strategic investments in the work BAE Systems does, but its commitment to ensuring employees have all the tools they need. By fostering a culture that sees differences as strengths and promotes a sense of belonging, each team member plays a critical role in advancing technology and supporting the company’s missions of “We Protect Those Who Protect Us®” and “We Innovate for Those Who Move the World™.”

The facility is located near the Capital Factory, a hub for entrepreneurs in Texas and serves as headquarters for the Army Futures Command. As a member of the Capital Factory’s Innovation Council, BAE Systems collaborates with startups and small businesses to accelerate the development of new defense technology.
