Buda budget may include property tax decrease, water rate increase

The Buda City Council will hold public hearings for the next budget year, with discussion including proposed water and wastewater rate increases; five full-time equivalent positions for departments including police and finance; and a slight decrease in the property tax rate.

The first meeting will occur virtually on Sept. 1, according to the City of Buda. The followup meeting will occur Sept. 15 at 5:30 p.m. at Buda City Hall.

The City Council will discuss a proposed $0.0073 cents per $100 of valuation decrease in property taxes to $0.3423 per $100 of valuation for the 2021 fiscal year. The council will also discuss a 3% water rate increase and a 4% wastewater increase during the meeting.

The proposed five new full-time equivalent positions would go to departments including police, communications, finance, engineering, and water/wastewater.
