BUDA – City leaders of this small town south of Austin are making funds available for small businesses to survive the shutdowns caused by the COVID-19 virus.
The Still Budaful Stimulus Program kicked off April 10 to bring monetary relief of $485,000 to local businesses.
"Businesses eligible for financial relief include those who have 50 or fewer employees, businesses with physical and publicly accessible locations," according to the Hays Free Press. "The businesses must be registered with the Texas Comptroller’s Office, licenses and permits must be current, activities must be legal, and they must have experienced a decline in revenue or employment. Those who experienced a loss in revenue and a loss in employment are eligible for the full $5,000 fund."
National chain businesses, those that are home-based businesses, nonprofits and permanently closed businesses are ineligible for the funding, the report added.
The money will be provided on a first-come first-served basis. Approval will be granted within five to seven business days.
“It is our sincere hope with love and trust you can see we are here for you (small business owners),” Lauren Middleton-Pratt, Buda assistant city manager, said in a Youtube video.
J.R. Gonzales of the Buda Chamber of Commerce urged business owners to apply for the funding.
“It might be just the thing to get you through these difficult times,” he said.
