While some of Texas may be experiencing a dark and rainy week, many other parts of Central Texas are still dealing with a continuing drought and its conditions.
Caldwell County and other areas around Luling are experiencing the worst conditions. An "extreme" drought has developed in these areas.
The Austin metro area is only having "abnormally dry" conditions. Most of Hill County isn't having drought conditions, either. The conditions are spread out throughout Central Texas, specifically the eastern parts such as La Grange and Giddings.
Daily rain is expected in a short-term weather forecast for parts of South and Central Texas. This light rain could bring relief to drought conditions for several days at a time in the areas.
This coming weekend is expected to have the highest chances of rain. A cold front is nearing the area on Saturday and Sunday, which will be the two wettest days of the short-term weather forecast.
The Hill County is expected to receive the highest number of rainfall in the area. An inch or rain or higher is possible in the county within the next week.
Recorded rainfall drops the closer the forecast rain gets to the Luling area, which needs the rain the most due to its dry conditions.
The Climate Prediction Center said that there is a decent chance of precipitation within the eight- to 14-day outlook. Through March 24, there is an above-average chance of rain in Texas and the chance is especially high east of the Interstate 35 corridor area.
