Two days later, on January 13, 2026, Gerdes highlighted recent accomplishments alongside local young Republicans. He stated, “Honored to join my fellow @BastropYR’s to share our most recent hard-fought victories. In just the last three months, we: Stopped local tax hikes Killed Austin’s plan to pump their water into our aquifer Forced TxDOT to rebuild Loop 230 in under 30 hours Brought in”.
Later that day, Gerdes announced an endorsement from a political action committee focused on life issues. He posted on January 13, “I’m proud to earn the endorsement of @TXAlliance4Life PAC. I’ve stood firm for Texas families, and I won’t back down. Protecting innocent life isn’t a slogan to me; it’s a commitment I’ve kept in the Legislature and will continue to fight for every day. #txlege”.
Gerdes succeeded John Cyrier as state representative after being elected in 2023 to serve Texas’s 17th House district.
