Stan Gerdes, a Republican who has represented Texas’ 17th House district since his election in 2023, shared updates on community engagement and local initiatives through a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) in December 2025.
On December 11, Gerdes highlighted his participation with officials and community leaders in Bastrop County to distribute grants: “I joined local officials and community leaders to present two generous grants to deserving recipients in Bastrop County. The Rockne Community Center received $50,000 for new baseball field lighting and the @Heartofthepines Volunteer Fire Department received $19,869 to purchase”.
Later that day, Gerdes described his meeting with DarPro leadership regarding the company’s progress at its Bastrop plant: “I met with DarPro leadership this week after demanding a year-end progress report. I wanted the meeting at the Bastrop plant so I could see — and smell — real progress. They told me ‘a site visit wouldn’t be possible until February or March due to construction,’ so we met at my”.
On December 13, Gerdes promoted a holiday event organized by The Smithville Heritage Society: “Merry Christmas from Who-ville! If you haven’t already, stop by The Smithville Heritage Society on Main Street for Waffles with the Grinch! They’ve got the incredible decorations from our Christmas parade by the Smithville Garden Club, and the Grinch himself!”
Gerdes succeeded John Cyrier as state representative for District 17 after winning office in 2023.
