Stan Gerdes, a Republican member of the Texas State House representing the 17th district since 2023, has recently shared updates and positions on agriculture, sports policy, and environmental enforcement via his social media accounts.
On January 14, 2026, Gerdes announced his endorsement from a major agricultural group. In his post he stated: “Proud to earn the endorsement of the @TexasFarmBureau AGFUND.
Texas agriculture is the backbone of our state, and I’ve fought to protect farmers, ranchers, and rural communities. I’m honored to have their support as I run for re-election, and I’ll keep standing up for Texas ag,” (January 14, 2026).
Later that day, Gerdes commented on policies regarding sports participation: “The weakest men compete with girls, the weakest minds celebrate it.
It’s common sense. Men should not be competing in women’s sports.
We made that the law in Texas, but a unanimous ruling from the Supreme Court would be a huge win for women and girls everywhere.
Proud to” (January 14, 2026).
On January 15, 2026, Gerdes referenced an ongoing investigation into DarPro in Bastrop County by the Texas Attorney General’s office following his advocacy for stricter enforcement. He wrote: “Following my push for tougher enforcement, the Texas AG is now investigating DarPro in Bastrop County.
Years of repeated violations will not be ignored on my watch — accountability is coming, excuses are over. #txlege” (January 15, 2026).
Gerdes began serving in the Texas House after winning election in 2023 for District 17; he succeeded John Cyrier as representative.
