The Hays County Sheriff’s Office arrested Milton Edgardo Madrid-Paredes on multiple felony charges, including continuous sexual abuse of a child, with bonds totaling more than $500,000 and an ICE detainer in place.

According to jail records, Madrid-Paredes was booked on March 30 on charges including continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 and multiple counts of sexual assault of a child. The records list bond amounts for each count along with an ICE detainer.

Statewide data show that such cases are not isolated. According to a report from the Texas Attorney General’s Office, the state reported 2,042 cases of child sexual abuse through the Crime Victim Services program. Sexual assault cases reached 2,734 in the same period. These figures highlight the volume of child victimization cases handled statewide each year.

Federal immigration enforcement has also focused on similar offenses. ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Houston arrested 414 criminal illegal aliens charged with or convicted of child sex offenses, according to the agency. The arrestees accounted for 761 child sex offenses and 525 other crimes, ranging from homicide to robbery. The operation nearly doubled the number of such arrests from the prior administration’s final year.

The Hays County Sheriff’s Office is led by Sheriff Anthony Hipolito, who served 23 years with the Austin Police Department, according to the sheriff’s office. The department also operates the Citizens Sheriff’s Academy.
