Texas State University announced on May 5 that four members of its softball team have received Sun Belt All-Conference honors for the 2026 season. Maddy Azua, Williams, Coleman, and Vestal were recognized for their performances, with Azua being named Pitcher of the Year.
These awards highlight the continued success of Texas State’s softball program within the Sun Belt Conference. The recognition reflects both individual achievements and team contributions over the course of the season.
Azua’s selection as Pitcher of the Year marks her first time receiving this award and makes her the fifth Texas State player to earn this honor since joining the conference. She finished conference play with a league-best 1.49 earned run average (ERA), led in strikeouts with 100 through 103.2 innings, and held opponents to a .225 batting average while recording twelve wins and one save in eighteen appearances. Azua also completed eleven games while allowing only twenty-two earned runs. She has been recognized nationally for her performance in several pitching categories and was previously named Preseason Pitcher of the Year as well as an All-Conference First Team member in 2025.
Coleman was named to the All-Sun Belt First Team for a second consecutive year after finishing league play with a .302 batting average and seven home runs among sixteen hits. She drew thirty-four walks during conference games—fourteen intentional—which led all players by more than double. Her slugging percentage was .717 despite limited at-bats due to frequent walks.
Williams earned her first career All-Conference accolade as part of the First Team after serving as leadoff hitter throughout conference play, hitting .392 with thirty-one hits—including nine extra-base hits—and drawing fifteen walks. Her batting average ranked fourth in the league; she also maintained a perfect fielding record during league games.
Vestal, in her redshirt-freshman season, was named Second Team All-Conference after hitting .344 on the season with twenty-two hits and eleven walks while striking out only three times during conference play.
The four honorees will begin postseason competition on Thursday, May 7, facing James Madison University at Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park in Lafayette, Louisiana during quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
