Four members of the Texas State football team were named to the National Football Foundation’s Hampshire Honor Society, according to an April 8 announcement. The honor recognizes college football student-athletes for both academic achievement and on-field performance.
The Hampshire Honor Society celebrates its twentieth year in 2026. It includes players from all divisions of the NCAA, NAIA, and sprint football who have maintained a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2 throughout their college careers. Eligible players must have been starters or significant contributors during the previous season and either be graduating seniors or graduate students who played in the most recent season.
This year’s four honorees represent the second highest total for Texas State in two decades, following last year’s record of eight selections. The group includes student-athletes from various positions and academic backgrounds: offensive line (Plano, Texas; Integrated Studies), tight end (Pottsboro, Texas; Integrated Students), punter (Houston, Texas; Advertising), and running back (Germantown, Tennessee; Integrated Studies).
Texas State has had several previous honorees since 2007, including Walter Musgrove (2007), Nick Clark (2008), Travis Houston (2010), Darius Bolden (2011), Alvaro Garcia and Josh Minde (2012), Blake McColloch (2014), Colby Targun (2015), Elijah King, Gabe Loyd, Gabe Schrade (2018), Jacob Rowland, Anthony J. Taylor, Hutch White (2020) as well as Drew Donley, Nash Jones, Alex Merritt, James Neal and John Oehrlein in recent years.
The Hampshire Foundation is affiliated with The Hampshire Companies and serves as its charitable arm supporting such initiatives. The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame was founded in 1947 by figures including General Douglas MacArthur and coach Earl “Red” Blaik to promote leadership through amateur football.
